Dr Sethu C Nair, Graduate Student at University of Georgia attended the 10TH INTERNATIONAL CONGRESS ON TOXOPLASMOSIS at Kerkrade,The Netherlands. He presented a paper on apicoplast metabolism in coccidian(apicomplexan) parasite Toxoplasma gondii. Apicoplast is an intracellular plastid like organelle which the parasite aquired through a process called secodary endosymbiosis. Broader aim of his thesis project is to validate drug targets against the parasite in this organelle as it is divergent from the host cells which the parasite predates.

Dr Sethu had a chance meeting with Dr Arun Kommadath (92 batch) at netherlands. Guess what...we have alumni in each and every part of the world. Next time you visit a place, look around and you may find mannuthian if you are lucky!
